Description

  • Advise clients and company engineers to resolve on-site issues as the factory expert for VFD products.
  • Provide technical support to clients and other engineers when not in the field.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on client equipment.
  • Analyze equipment failures using remote diagnostics tools and perform diagnostic and repair services at client sites when needed.
  • Troubleshoot, isolate issues, and repair or replace defective components.
  • Update CRM records with accurate case information and issue service documentation, including Service Advices and field service reports.
  • Acquire and maintain required safety qualifications and comply with company and client safety standards.
  • Configure equipment to help suppliers resolve product failures quickly and cost-effectively.
  • Respond to client issues after regular business hours on an assigned schedule.
  • Investigate field changes, recommend solutions, train client personnel, and identify additional value-add products and services.
  • Perform commissioning, installations, quality inspections, and performance testing of VFDs to meet design criteria.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of science in electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering field, or equivalent education and/or work experience.
  • 3 years of field engineering experience in power conversion or A/C VFD engineering, with familiarity in power distribution, power electronics, and rotating machine products.
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal and external contacts.
  • Strong personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 50%, sometimes with limited notice.
  • 5 years of technical services, field, or customer support engineering experience in AC and DC Variable Frequency Drives in an industrial environment is preferred.
  • Field engineering experience in metals rolling, container crane systems, and/or paper industries is preferred.
  • Legacy A/C and DC VFD engineering experience with AC/DC2000, AV/DC300, Innovation Series, or T250 is preferred.
  • Controls engineering experience with LAN topology and protocols such as ISBUS, Profibus, Modbus, EGD, DeviceNet, TC-net, MELPAC, and TOSLINE is preferred.
  • Experience working with PLCs manufactured by Toshiba, GE, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi Electric is preferred.
  • Ability to install, inspect, and maintain equipment according to relevant operating and installation instructions is preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin, written and verbal, in addition to English, is preferred for international client communications.
