Description

  • Design, implement, and maintain high-availability PostgreSQL database systems for a 24x7 SaaS platform.
  • Define and improve database reliability using monitoring, alerting, SLO-oriented metrics, and operational readiness practices.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident corrective actions for database production events.
  • Partner with developers, operations, infrastructure, and technical leaders to ensure new systems are supportable and maintainable.
  • Provide escalated technical guidance and support to other technology teams across the organization.
  • Provide on-call coverage for production support and related duties as required.
  • Ensure database platform activities comply with HIPAA security policies and internal operating standards.
  • Build and continuously improve Datadog-based observability dashboards, alerts, and service-level views.
  • Automate system maintenance tasks using scripting and configuration tools such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
  • Manage infrastructure as code by writing Ansible playbooks and supporting related automation efforts.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10+ years of engineering experience in Database Engineering, Systems Engineering, DevOps, and/or SRE.
  • Strong experience managing PostgreSQL in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with cloud-based compute, storage, and containerization solutions; Azure and Kubernetes are preferred.
  • Experience with observability/monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or Datadog; Datadog experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments and supporting production services with ITSM practices where applicable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams.
  • Experience with tools such as PGAnalyze, Percona, Terraform, ETL pipeline development in Python, or PostgreSQL ecosystem components like PgBouncer, PgBackrest, HAProxy, and RepMgr is a plus.
