Description

  • Manage and grow a team of platform and infrastructure engineers.
  • Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Define ambitious but achievable team goals and deliver against the platform roadmap.
  • Work with engineering leadership and stakeholders to define the developer platform vision and roadmap.
  • Mentor individual contributors and help raise the technical bar of the team.
  • Build and operate systems that support the software development lifecycle, including build systems, CI/CD infrastructure, testing frameworks, and deployment automation.
  • Improve engineering productivity by reducing friction in build, test, and deployment workflows.
  • Ensure the development platform is reliable, observable, scalable, and well-integrated with production environments.
  • Partner with infrastructure, operations, engineering, and research teams on evolving development needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement of developer tooling, workflows, and platform capabilities across the organization.

Requirements

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Experience managing engineering teams and mentoring senior engineers.
  • Proven ability to attract, hire, and retain exceptional engineering talent.
  • Strong programming experience in one or more modern languages such as Python, Go, C++, or similar.
  • Experience building or operating large-scale developer platforms, build systems, CI/CD infrastructure, or internal engineering tooling.
  • Experience operating critical systems with high reliability and availability requirements.
  • Knowledge of scalable system design, reliability engineering, and operational excellence best practices.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including build systems, testing infrastructure, and deployment automation.
  • Ability to balance deep technical detail with strategic platform architecture decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and research organizations.
  • Experience with large monorepos, Bazel, or similar build systems (preferred).
  • Experience improving developer productivity at scale (preferred).
  • Experience with CI/CD systems, developer tooling, or internal platform engineering (preferred).

  • Base salary range of $225,000 to $310,000.
