Description

  • Collaborate with Design and Product teams to build a beautiful, performant, and well-engineered web UI.
  • Architect and implement backend APIs optimized for performance, scalability, growth, and ease of future development.
  • Develop and maintain all parts of the stack, including web frontend, backend/API, devops, databases, and analytics.
  • Write unit, functional, and integration tests to ensure code and product quality.
  • Investigate, debug, and fix user-reported production issues.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other team members.
  • Influence technology direction and contribute to architectural and tooling decisions.
  • Brainstorm new product ideas and improvements and iterate on team processes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders such as Advertising, Editorial, and Marketing.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant discipline preferred.
  • Experience building web frontends and backends and owning full-stack features.
  • Experience writing unit, functional, and integration tests and diagnosing production issues.
  • Familiarity with React (Next.js) and Apollo/GraphQL or PHP (WordPress) with REST APIs (preferred).
  • Familiarity with data stores such as MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch (preferred).
  • Familiarity with AWS services (Elastic Beanstalk, ECS, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch) (preferred).
  • Experience mentoring or providing guidance to other engineers (preferred).
  • Must be located in and eligible to work remotely from the United States or Canada.

  • Annual base salary range: $120,000 - $140,000 USD.
