Description

  • Maintain current expertise in hospital ranking, rating, and benchmarking methodologies such as CMS Star Ratings, U.S. News, Leapfrog, Vizient, and Healthgrades.
  • Translate methodology specifications into data requirements and analytic models.
  • Serve as the clinical and quality subject-matter expert across quality, coding/CDI, clinical operations, and analytics teams.
  • Advise executive and clinical leadership on ranking trends, methodology changes, strategy, and reputational risk.
  • Design, build, and validate AI/ML and rules-based algorithms to detect documentation and coding gaps affecting risk adjustment and quality attribution.
  • Identify gaps and variation in clinical processes of care that influence benchmarked outcomes.
  • Apply NLP and LLM approaches to clinical notes, EHR data, and claims data to generate actionable insights.
  • Partner with CDI, coding, quality, and clinical leaders to turn findings into workflow and performance-improvement interventions.
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and feature stores in Databricks using Delta Lake, PySpark, MLflow, and Unity Catalog.
  • Develop and deploy predictive and generative AI models in the Databricks Lakehouse environment with monitoring, versioning, and governance.

Requirements

  • Clinical background with licensure or credentialing such as RN, MD/DO, PharmD, or an equivalent clinical degree, or a graduate degree in Clinical/Health Informatics with substantial clinical quality experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in clinical informatics, clinical quality, CDI, or population health analytics.
  • Direct experience with hospital ranking and rating methodologies.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building data pipelines and/or ML models in Databricks.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Experience applying AI/ML, including NLP/LLM techniques, to clinical and/or claims data.
  • Deep working knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and risk-adjustment models such as APR-DRG, MS-DRG, and HCC/RAF.
  • Ability to work independently as a senior IC with director-level scope, autonomy, and executive exposure.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings for physician and executive audiences.
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Clinical Informatics, Health Data Science, Public Health, Nursing, or Medicine (preferred).
  • Direct experience improving performance against U.S. News, CMS Star Ratings, Leapfrog, or Vizient benchmarks (preferred).
  • Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog, Genie/AI-BI tools, or MLOps in regulated healthcare environments (preferred).
  • Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, and EHR data models such as Epic Clarity/Caboodle or Cerner (preferred).
  • Prior experience in a matrixed hospital or health-system environment (preferred).
  • Experience operating as a strategic, senior-level advisor to C-suite leadership (preferred).
