Description

  • Monitor daily transactions for unusual or suspicious patterns, including refund abuse, discount abuse, duplicate sales, and other irregularities.
  • Identify emerging risk trends across stores, regions, or individuals and maintain tracking of flagged activity.
  • Extract, clean, and analyse transaction and operational data to identify trends, control gaps, and risk exposure.
  • Prepare regular risk dashboards, reporting packs, and support the development of reporting frameworks and risk metrics.
  • Support fraud and incident investigations by extracting, analysing, and interpreting relevant data.
  • Help identify root causes, system weaknesses, and financial exposure related to incidents.
  • Maintain risk registers, incident logs, and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of policies, procedures, internal controls, and preventative measures.
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, Retail Operations, Legal, and the Risk Manager to improve data integrity and risk visibility.
  • Support control reviews, communication of risk trends, and other risk-related projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, data analytics, computer science, law, or risk management.
  • Experience in operations, forensic accounting, risk analytics, compliance, or internal audit, ideally in retail.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data manipulation.
  • Experience working with large, complex data sets.
  • Experience with POS or ERP systems is highly regarded, including Netsuite and Shopify.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • A methodical, forensic approach to data analysis.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of operational risk.
  • High attention to detail, professional scepticism, curiosity, and confidentiality.
  • Results-driven, adaptable, and able to take initiative and ownership.
