Description

  • Own Defend’s brand strategy, positioning, and long-term narrative.
  • Define who Defend is for, the problem it solves, and why it wins in the market.
  • Lead annual and quarterly brand planning and campaign strategy across DTC, retail, B2B, and partnerships.
  • Own go-to-market strategy for new product and feature launches.
  • Partner with the Creative Director to shape creative direction, storytelling, and briefing.
  • Ensure creative work aligns with brand strategy and customer truth.
  • Act as the internal voice of the customer across Product, CX, Sales, and Leadership.
  • Align brand promises with real customer experiences.
  • Own brand health metrics such as awareness, consideration, and preference alongside performance outcomes.
  • Use customer insight, market research, and competitive analysis to refine brand strategy.
  • Support retail, B2B, and partnership storytelling with clear positioning and messaging.
  • Mentor and help develop future brand team members as the organization grows.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in brand management, marketing strategy, or product marketing.
  • Proven experience owning and growing a brand, not only supporting one.
  • Deep understanding of brand positioning, customer insight, and messaging frameworks.
  • Experience partnering with creative teams to bring strategy to life.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Comfort presenting to executive leadership and defending strategic decisions.
  • Experience in fast-paced, entrepreneurial, or challenger brand environments.
  • Experience in security, construction, ag, outdoor, or B2B-adjacent categories.
  • Background in DTC and retail brands.
  • Experience with subscription or hardware-enabled products.
  • Experience launching new products or defining new categories.
  • Preference for candidates currently located in, or willing to relocate to, Billings, MT.
  • Candidates based in Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Mexico, and South Dakota are not being considered.
