Description

  • Define and execute the long-term data science strategy aligned with business objectives and product vision.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Product Management and Data Science to translate product needs into feasible projects.
  • Support the company’s shift from a traditional SaaS product to an AI-first platform.
  • Lead the strategy for integrating LLMs and advanced NLP into text analytics, sentiment analysis, and generative product features.
  • Set technical standards for model development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Own the full model lifecycle from experimentation through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team of data scientists and machine learning engineers.
  • Recruit data science talent, manage performance, and define career progression paths.
  • Research, evaluate, and evangelize new developments in machine learning, deep learning, MLOps, and data science methodologies.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data science.
  • At least 5 years of Director-level leadership experience managing and scaling data science or machine learning teams in a commercial software environment.
  • Significant experience with AI/ML platforms.
  • Experience building or leading AI/ML platforms such as feature stores, model serving, and training pipelines in a cloud environment like AWS.
  • Deep practical and theoretical understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and experimental design (A/B testing).
  • Demonstrated experience applying, fine-tuning, and integrating LLMs and advanced NLP techniques into production systems.
  • Experience with text classification, summarization, and generation use cases.
  • Exceptional ability to translate ambiguous product needs into concrete, defensible data science solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with MLOps / LLMOps practices is expected.
  • Familiarity with modern MLOps tools and platforms such as AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, or MLflow.
  • Experience with agentic AI architecture, deployment, and execution.
  • Experience building and deploying machine learning systems end-to-end, from data to production.

  • Base salary range of CAD $224,000 to $336,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
