Description

  • Lead vetting and development processes for specific Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) projects to ensure high project quality on the Supercritical platform.
  • Develop and refine CDR quality standards and vetting frameworks in line with the latest climate science.
  • Independently apply commercial vetting frameworks to assess project viability and long-term credit delivery.
  • Cultivate relationships with CDR project suppliers by providing feedback and sharing market insights.
  • Become an in-house expert on supplier projects and stay current on scientific developments in carbon removal.
  • Support the sales and marketing team with climate thought leadership initiatives that educate prospective CDR buyers.
  • Assess project quality and risk to improve transparency, trust, and sustainable market growth.

Requirements

  • MSc or higher in chemical engineering, environmental science, or a relevant natural science such as chemistry, or a BEng/BSc with 3–5 years of relevant work experience.
  • In-depth expertise in biomass-based CDR pathways such as biochar or bioenergy.
  • Previous experience working in the climate and sustainability field, including academic, consulting, commercial, government, or NGO settings.
  • Strong curiosity and broad understanding of carbon, climate, and sustainability issues, with genuine commitment to climate impact.
  • High attention to detail and a willingness to dig deeply to understand root causes and underlying issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with clear, punchy scientific writing.
  • Strong analytical skills and good proficiency with Excel/spreadsheets.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced environments with resilience and adaptability to ambiguity.
  • Experience with LCA, carbon accounting, financial modelling, TEA, MRV plans, or environmental impact assessments is a strong plus, especially in a CDR or biochar context.
  • Eligibility to work outside UK sponsorship requirements, or willingness to work within 3 hours of GMT/BST and travel to London quarterly if based outside the UK.

Benefits

  • Basic salary of £50,000–£62,500 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Unlimited annual leave.
  • One company-wide day off on the first Friday of every month.
  • Pension with a 3% employer contribution when matched by a 5% employee contribution.
  • Remote-first hybrid working, with the option to use the London co-working space 1–2 days per week.
  • £1,000 annual wellbeing allowance and up to £500 for working-from-home equipment.
  • Monthly company socials in London.
  • Ability to purchase high-quality carbon removal offsets for personal emissions from the company inventory.
