Description

  • Develop and maintain controls standards and specifications, including basis of design, OPRs, SOOs, point-and-alert lists, graphics, dashboards, reporting, training, and scope-of-work documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver data center capacity safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Support site operations by troubleshooting control system issues, performing maintenance support, leading root cause analyses, and assisting with retrofits.
  • Design, configure, monitor, and maintain PLC-based control systems for HVAC, electrical, fire suppression, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Serve as a bridge between design consultants, BMS vendors, and IT teams to implement reliable building management systems for new builds and retrofit projects.
  • Oversee controls diagrams, screen development, network integrations, BMS/EPMS workflows, and related process documentation.
  • Support quality approval, vendor evaluation, automated testing, software review, and technical review of project deliverables.
  • Prepare and manage RFPs, contract administration, change proposals, value engineering inputs, invoices, submittals, and other design and construction documentation.
  • Work with commissioning teams on walkdowns, critical benchmarks, systems integration, issue resolution, script review, and technical support.
  • Travel to data center and equipment sites for engineering studies, audits, startup testing, commissioning, inspections, and hands-on support.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of combined experience in maintenance, design, and deployment of critical environment controls systems.
  • Experience in the design of controls and monitoring solution projects.
  • Project management experience focused on data centers or critical environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or 5 years of related professional experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, MQTT, and OPC.
  • Understanding of PLC programming language, architecture, and configuration.
  • Experience developing and interpreting sequences of operations (SOOs).
  • Experience with engineering documentation such as control drawings, bills of materials, GUI/functional specifications, and sequences of operations.
  • Experience using and programming building management systems and electrical power monitoring systems; Schneider and Eaton preferred.
  • Knowledge of data center facilities infrastructure and operations, including PDU, UPS, and generators.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Direct experience with electrical distribution systems from low to high voltage and modular data center design, procurement, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, environmental codes, building codes, safety standards, and the International Building Code.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to senior leadership or non-engineers and create basic financial projections and performance metrics.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical theory, including calculations for single- and three-phase circuits, electrical/control diagrams, and fluid dynamics.
  • Preferred: proficiency with Ignition, ideally with Core Certification.
  • Preferred: experience with Schneider PLCs, Ignition SCADA, and DDC systems.
  • Preferred: experience leading teams of 2-5 people in a critical environment.
