Description

  • Lead small, multi-disciplinary teams to design, build, integrate, and test RF hardware systems and field-deployable prototypes.
  • Define system goals, performance objectives, metrics, dependencies, and risks to guide engineering work.
  • Lead RF hardware design efforts, including tasking engineers to create drawings, select parts, and write component specifications.
  • Lead integration and test of complete RF systems, including antennas, feeds, waveguides, positioners, processing hardware, and system-control software.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, firmware, systems, and test engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct trade studies and architecture analyses, and help derive, develop, and verify system requirements.
  • Develop component and system test plans and lead verification testing to demonstrate compliance and document performance.
  • Conduct over-the-air demonstrations, including readiness planning, test architecture, metrics, data management, operational procedures, and reporting.
  • Work with the signal processing team to develop test concepts and methods.
  • Perform performance analysis using simulations and real-world testing, and identify opportunities to mature subsystem and system capabilities.
  • Prepare documentation, design specifications, test plans, and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience working with RF components and subsystems.
  • Experience with T/R modules, rotary joints, antennas, positioners, filters, radiating structures, isolators, amplifiers, ADCs/DACs, and system signal processing, calibration, and control software.
  • Experience developing requirements and verification plans for complex systems and subsystems.
  • Experience performing RF system, subsystem, and/or component analysis, including frequency planning, link budget analysis, transceiver architectures, and cascade analysis.
  • RF testing and characterization experience from component level through system level.
  • Experience leading integration and test teams for RF systems, including front-end hardware, back-end hardware, and software.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python and/or other higher-level languages.
  • Strong mathematical, troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI clearance preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience in sensing and electronic warfare applications, including electronic attack, electronic protection, cognitive EW, radar, and advanced ESM techniques preferred.
  • Experience with EM field solvers such as ANSYS HFSS or Sonnet preferred.
  • Experience translating mission needs into an end-to-end analytical solution while working with decision-makers and customers preferred.
  • Experience with RF integrated circuits, RF transceiver building blocks, high-power RF design and testing, or automated/semi-automated RF test set development preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, software development, C/C++, Python, EMI/EMC debugging, and FPGA hardware inference designs preferred.
  • Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints preferred.
  • Ability to create and present briefings to customers and senior management preferred.
