Description

  • Contribute to architecture, design, and technical decision-making for backend services, CMS integrations, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing APIs.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, monitoring, observability, and overall system reliability.
  • Ensure security, governance, and cloud infrastructure best practices are followed within AWS.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and scalable design patterns.
  • Provide technical mentorship, supervision, and performance guidance to engineers.
  • Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support the delivery of high-visibility, consumer-facing web applications with long-term scalability in mind.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture work.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and PHP.
  • Strong Node.js backend experience, preferably with NestJS.
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs and distributed or microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience with JWT/OIDC authentication patterns such as Auth0, passport-jwt, and JWKS.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, multi-environment deployments, backups, and scaling.
  • Hands-on operational MongoDB experience with replication, sharding, and performance tuning preferred.
  • Experience with Docker and AWS ECS container orchestration, including task definitions, logging, and ECR.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Amplify, API Gateway, ALB/NLB, S3, EFS, CloudWatch, X-Ray, IAM, and VPC/VPC endpoints.
  • Experience building automation in cloud-native environments using IaC tools such as Terraform and Terragrunt.
  • Experience with CI/CD using GitHub Actions and GitHub OIDC for secure AWS deployments.
  • Observability and operations experience with logs, metrics, alarms, distributed tracing, and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience with security best practices, including least-privilege IAM, private S3 patterns, and secrets management.
  • Testing and quality assurance experience, including unit and integration tests with Jest, e2e testing, linting, and formatting.
  • Experience integrating headless CMS platforms with modern front-end frameworks.
  • Preferred experience integrating with Contentful, Drupal, and WordPress.
  • Preferred experience with Zod, schema-first validation, and OpenAPI generation tooling.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with CloudPosse Terraform modules and Terragrunt layout patterns.
  • Preferred performance tuning experience for Node.js applications and MongoDB, including caching strategies.
  • Preferred experience with EFS for stateful containers and mount/permission management.
  • Preferred knowledge of Checkov and Terraform security scanning or Terraform CI checks.
