Description

  • Define and drive the long-term data engineering strategy for the Subscriptions User Understanding domain.
  • Design scalable batch and streaming data platforms for analytics, experimentation, machine learning, and subscriber experiences.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Platform teams to deliver durable data solutions.
  • Lead architectural decisions and establish best practices for data quality, governance, observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Design data models and platform architecture that balance performance, cost, maintainability, and growth.
  • Simplify complex systems, reduce technical debt, and improve the developer experience across the data ecosystem.
  • Mentor senior engineers and help shape technical direction through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience designing, building, and operating large-scale cloud-native data platforms.
  • Deep experience building reliable distributed data pipelines using Scio, BigQuery, Dataflow, GCS, SQL, Python, or similar cloud-native tools.
  • Strong understanding of modern data modeling, metadata management, governance, and data quality practices.
  • Ability to balance immediate business needs with long-term architectural sustainability.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence technical direction without formal authority.
  • Experience communicating effectively with engineers, product managers, data scientists, analysts, and senior leadership.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and coaching technical teams.
  • Experience working on broad, cross-cutting engineering challenges and aligning teams around a shared technical vision.
  • Must be able to work within the EMEA region where Spotify has a work location, excluding France due to on-call restrictions.
  • Preferred: experience in platforms that support analytics, experimentation, machine learning, or subscriber growth.
