Description

  • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and frontend interfaces across the stack.
  • Improve metadata matching between WhoSampled’s database and Spotify’s catalog using ML-assisted approaches.
  • Work on entity resolution and LLM-powered disambiguation to surface more of WhoSampled’s archive within Spotify.
  • Lead infrastructure modernisation to make WhoSampled more robust and scalable.
  • Collaborate closely with Spotify platform and security stakeholders on infrastructure and operational work.
  • Design, build, ship, and operate systems with end-to-end ownership of reliability and performance.
  • Bring AI tooling into engineering workflows for data quality, matching, automation, and developer productivity.
  • Contribute within Spotify’s infrastructure patterns while helping shape the future of the WhoSampled product.

Requirements

  • Strong experience building production software.
  • Depth in at least two of the following areas: backend services, frontend web, data systems, or infrastructure.
  • Strong Python skills, ideally with Django experience.
  • Experience with Java.
  • Production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query tuning.
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch is a plus.
  • Modern web application experience with TypeScript and React.
  • Experience shipping user-facing features, not just prototypes.
  • Comfort with Linux, GCP or equivalent cloud platforms, and networking fundamentals.
  • Ability to work across languages and stacks, handle ambiguity, and make well-reasoned decisions with limited oversight.
