Description

Lead and support engineering managers and their teams building platform systems for personalized recommendations across Spotify.
Set and evolve the technical vision for foundational capabilities, including targeting, serving, evaluation, and agent-driven systems.
Decide which capabilities should become shared platform services versus remain closer to product teams.
Guide incremental platform evolution to enable continuous delivery and avoid large, disruptive rewrites.
Partner with product, data science, and engineering leaders to align priorities across multiple squads.
Contribute to architecture decisions and resolve complex production challenges when needed.
Encourage adoption of AI-assisted development tools and shape how teams use them in day-to-day work.
Hire, develop, and grow engineering leaders and individual contributors.
Build and maintain a strong, inclusive team culture.

Requirements

Experience building and operating machine learning systems at scale in consumer-facing products.
Experience with recommendation systems, ranking, or content delivery platforms.
Understanding of end-to-end machine learning workflows.
Strong platform thinking and judgment on when to build shared capabilities versus product-specific solutions.
Comfort working with modern AI tools and understanding their impact on software development practices.
Experience leading teams through change and supporting adoption of new technologies or ways of working.
Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and align teams with different priorities.
Comfort navigating ambiguity and making decisions that balance short-term needs with long-term impact.
Willingness to work within the North America region, with collaboration aligned to Eastern Standard Time.
Preferred familiarity with leading engineering leaders and individual contributors in an inclusive environment.

Base salary range of $281,196 to $401,709 plus equity.
