Description

  • Build, operate, and evolve the data analytics platform, including backend services and the OLAP data store used by analytics teams.
  • Develop internal tooling, libraries, and services that simplify integration with the analytics platform.
  • Work closely with engineers across Spotify to provide OLAP capabilities for dynamic and reliable data visualizations.
  • Diagnose, resolve, and help prevent production issues affecting data infrastructure and analytics services.
  • Advocate for best practices in service design, data modeling, schema evolution, and contract testing.
  • Support reliability, SLOs, and operational excellence for data infrastructure services.
  • Collaborate in an autonomous, cross-functional environment to deliver on new product objectives.
  • Share operational responsibility for the products the team builds and supports.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience with distributed datastores and backend services.
  • Proficiency in Java.
  • Interest in learning Kubernetes and Terraform.
  • Understanding of data modeling, dimensional schemas, and analytical query patterns.
  • Experience building internal developer tools, libraries, or shared services for large engineering organizations.
  • Strong ownership mindset focused on service quality, SLOs, and operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with OLAP databases or analytics warehouses such as Druid, ClickHouse, Pinot, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
  • Druid experience is a strong plus.
  • Comfort with metrics-driven development and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to anticipate partner needs.
