Description

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
  • Support Nutanix, Microsoft Hyper-V, and OLVM/KVM platforms as required.
  • Perform VMware lifecycle patching, host updates, and approved configuration changes.
  • Monitor virtual machines, hosts, platform health, performance, and capacity.
  • Investigate and resolve virtualization incidents, performance bottlenecks, and technical issues.
  • Develop automation scripts and apply Infrastructure as Code practices for provisioning, administration, and monitoring.
  • Apply infrastructure security best practices and follow change-management procedures.
  • Collaborate with storage, networking, backup, security, and operating-system teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, infrastructure records, and platform reports.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior colleagues and support infrastructure projects and proof-of-concept deployments.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience operating and supporting enterprise virtualization infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation.
  • Experience with VCF Operations and VCF Automation.
  • Experience implementing Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code for VMware vSphere resources.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Experience with virtual machine provisioning, lifecycle management, monitoring, performance tuning, VMware patching, upgrades, and host management.
  • Understanding of storage, networking, backup, server hardware, operating-system dependencies, infrastructure security, and change management.
  • Familiarity with alternative virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and KVM.
  • Professional proficiency in English and ability to independently manage operational tasks while escalating high-risk issues appropriately.
  • Secondary school education or equivalent supplemented by specialised IT training; VMware, Terraform, Ansible, ITIL, ISO 20000, or PRINCE2 certifications are preferred.
