Description

  • Own major Android features end to end, from product decisions through release.
  • Write production code, review pull requests, and maintain shared components.
  • Improve reliability metrics, automated verification, release processes, and nightly QA builds.
  • Unblock engineers and consolidate duplicated solutions into maintainable team standards.
  • Lead planning and determine appropriate review and approval processes.
  • Handle critical issues and own feature releases.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering while representing team constraints.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and create opportunities for growth.
  • Introduce process improvements that reduce recurring problems and manual intervention.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including team leadership or ownership of a major product area while remaining hands-on.
  • Strong Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Android background services, Music Player Service, animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit skills.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
  • Understanding of testing strategy, including test limitations and effective test design.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce engineering practices that teams continue using independently.
  • Experience building reusable solutions adopted by the broader team.
  • Ability to evaluate review requirements based on system risk and behavior.
  • Experience explaining how a team uses AI agents in its development process.
  • Product design intuition, user empathy, and interest in advancing Android UI/UX beyond specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to drive changes despite resistance.
  • Self-directed approach to improving products and codebases.
  • Open-source Android experience preferred.
  • Experience with iOS, web, or Node.js preferred.
