Description

  • Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications.
  • Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop code architecture, performance, memory usage, responsiveness, compatibility, and maintainability.
  • Drive accessibility efforts by integrating and validating support for Windows accessibility frameworks and assistive technologies.
  • Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders on feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and roadmap decisions.
  • Own features end to end from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems.
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical design and architecture-level decisions.
  • Support the long-term health of the Windows platform through refactoring, maintenance, and technical debt management.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI or similar, C#, and XAML.
  • Additional experience with native Windows code such as C++, Win32, WinRT, or COM is ideally preferred.
  • Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed .NET code and native code.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications.
  • Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows such as Microsoft UI Automation or similar.
  • Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading or asynchronous programming.
  • Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions and build consensus.
  • A user-centric mindset focused on polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences.
  • Preferred experience writing automated UI tests, including unit tests, integration tests, or UI automation tests.
  • Preferred experience optimizing desktop app performance, including startup time, memory usage, rendering, and responsiveness under load.
  • Preferred experience with localization, globalization, right-to-left UI support, and internationalization.
  • Preferred familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring.
  • Preferred experience shaping CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications.
  • Preferred ability to own feature areas long term, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.
