Description

  • Specify, design, develop, and install devices used to collect solid rocket motor burn performance data.
  • Design custom electronic solutions, including PCBs, firmware, and FPGA code, for manufacturing and testing rocket motors.
  • Configure data collection systems and develop software applications for collecting test data.
  • Oversee technicians during instrumentation installation and rocket motor testing and development.
  • Analyze existing equipment to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improved instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop equipment and instrumentation aligned with safety, usability, and client requirements.
  • Design, test, and modify prototypes, schematics, and simulated models to meet specifications and budget.
  • Oversee implementation of measuring devices and control systems to ensure proper installation and testing.
  • Act as project engineer for design, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing development.
  • Prepare and present technical documents, reports, and test results, and provide training to employees or customers.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience designing, developing, and installing sensors for system performance data collection.
  • Experience with NI LabVIEW, NI DAQmx, or other COTS data acquisition systems.
  • Strong understanding of signal conditioning and analog circuit design.
  • Strong understanding of analog-to-digital conversion and digital circuit design.
  • Experience developing computer applications for data collection and computer-controlled data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to select sensors and design sensor placement for solid rocket motor performance metrics.
  • Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and computer-aided design software.
  • Ability to write and understand Python.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Advanced engineering degree (preferred).
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as SPICE (preferred).
  • Experience with EDA tools such as Altium or OrCAD (preferred).
  • Familiarity with real-time computer architectures and operating systems (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance (preferred).
