Description

  • Design, build, and operate secure, scalable AI platforms and proxy systems used across SpaceX.
  • Own the full lifecycle of platform development, including design, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive adoption by communicating platform value, supporting engineers, and creating shared prompts, skills, and infrastructure.
  • Identify high-value opportunities and build solutions that help users turn problems and ideas into tested software, deployed applications, and trained models.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver platforms that connect AI to real tools and workflows.
  • Onboard new models, expand compute resources, and improve proxy efficiency for logging, control, and security.
  • Develop risk-mitigation tools such as AI-powered code review and PR automation.
  • Focus on lean, effective, and secure applied AI that converts engineering expertise into automation and reliable data systems at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or another engineering discipline, or 2+ years of professional experience building production software in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience developing production software systems, including platform, backend, or full-stack systems.
  • Experience building internal developer platforms, AI gateways, or secure proxy systems in production (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Docker containers, security-focused architecture, and multi-provider integrations across cloud compute and frontier model providers (preferred).
  • Familiarity with MLOps, model onboarding, compute orchestration, and infrastructure for large-scale AI usage (preferred).
  • Experience creating tools, documentation, shared assets, or training that drives company-wide adoption (preferred).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of identifying and delivering high-impact solutions (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with additional languages such as Go, Java, or TypeScript (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, observability, and infrastructure-as-code tools (preferred).
  • Understanding of AI risk mitigation, code generation, and developer productivity tools (preferred).

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $125,000–$145,000 for Software Engineer I and $145,000–$175,000 for Software Engineer II.
  • Eligibility for long-term incentives, including company stock or long-term cash awards.
