Description

  • Perform partition synthesis and physical implementation, including floorplanning, power and ground grid generation, place and route, timing, noise, physical verification, electromigration, voltage drop, logic equivalency, and other signoff checks.
  • Develop and improve physical design methodologies and automation scripts for implementation steps.
  • Collaborate closely with the ASIC design team on architectural feasibility studies and RTL/design tradeoffs.
  • Define timing, power, and area design targets with cross-functional partners.
  • Resolve design, timing, congestion, and flow issues and drive execution of solutions.
  • Run, debug, and fix signoff closure issues in static timing analysis, noise, logic equivalency, physical verification, electromigration, and voltage drop.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in RTL2GDSII physical design and/or physical design flow development.
  • Experience with industry-standard EDA tools and understanding of their capabilities and underlying algorithms (preferred).
  • Knowledge of deep sub-micron FinFET and CMOS solid-state physics (preferred).
  • Understanding of CMOS digital design principles, standard cells, and standard cell libraries (preferred).
  • Understanding of CMOS power dissipation in deep submicron processes, including leakage and dynamic power (preferred).
  • Familiarity with CMOS analog circuit and physical design (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of DFT, Scan, MBIST, and LBIST and their impact on physical design flows (preferred).
  • Good scripting skills in csh/bash, Perl, Python, TCL, or Makefile (preferred).
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones.

  • Base salary of $145,000 to $175,000 per year for Physical Design Engineer/Level II, depending on knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
