Description

  • Detail electrical schematics in collaboration with automation and controls engineers.
  • Perform conduit fill calculations and initial sizing of conveyances.
  • Create CAD models and drawings for conduits, control panels, bracketry, and access provisions.
  • Perform basic structural analysis to ensure designs are robust for launch pad conditions.
  • Translate designs into install planning for field implementation.
  • Document designs and best practices.
  • Work on systems interfacing with Starship vehicles, including catching both stages and supporting automated launch cadence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline, or 2+ years of professional experience designing mechanical, fluids, or electrical systems in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience modeling with 3D CAD software such as NX/Unigraphics, Catia, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360 (preferred).
  • Familiarity with weldments and sheet metal structure design (preferred).
  • Experience using EPlan (preferred).
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 79 codes (preferred).
  • Experience designing and installing instrumentation and control systems in hazardous areas, including NFPA 70 Section 500, Class 1 Division 1 and Division 2, or IEC-equivalent environments (preferred).
  • Ability to solve problems with little to no supervision and work on schedule individually or as part of an integrated team (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (preferred).
  • Experience in fast-paced, demanding iterative design and manufacturing environments (preferred).
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing, sitting, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, lifting/carrying, and working in temperatures over 80 degrees.
  • Ability to safely work at heights up to 500 feet, in confined spaces, with air-purifying respirators, and around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment questionnaire and/or physical exam, including possible medical history review.
  • Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen/national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise authorized by the U.S. Department of State.
