Description

  • Define the long-term technical architecture and strategy for SoFi’s next-generation AI platform.
  • Architect and standardize graph-based LLM orchestration for complex, multi-stage reasoning workflows.
  • Develop persistent agent state and memory infrastructure for distributed, long-running agent workflows.
  • Pioneer parameter-efficient fine-tuning and model compression techniques to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Support the development of a unified model serving platform for high-throughput, low-latency inference.
  • Design and deploy AI observability, tracing, and testing frameworks to ensure production quality, compliance, and reliability.
  • Mentor senior and junior AI engineers to raise overall engineering quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, roadmaps, and delivery timelines.
  • Evaluate and experiment with emerging GenAI, LLM, and NLP techniques and tools.
  • Work closely with the Director of Risk Analytics on high-impact AI initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field; PhD is a plus.
  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying production-level AI applications.
  • Expert-level experience with LangGraph for stateful, multi-step LLM orchestration.
  • Expert-level proficiency in agentic solutions, including planning, memory management, tool integration, and control flow.
  • Deep understanding of LLM architectures, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and advanced text generation techniques.
  • Proven experience with parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT), such as LoRA.
  • Deep expertise with inference engines such as vLLM, NVIDIA Triton, or TGI, plus Kubernetes/GPU orchestration for custom deployments.
  • Deep experience with AI observability tools such as LangSmith, Arize, or Deepchecks, and advanced tracing/testing methods.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Expert-level Python is required.
  • React is strongly preferred.
  • Experience handling large-scale structured and unstructured data pipelines, with strong preference for Snowflake and DynamoDB.
  • Experience developing and integrating AI-powered APIs and microservices into banking applications.
  • Experience with vector databases and RAG systems such as Elasticsearch, Pinecone, or FAISS.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior technical leaders and drive consensus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills for complex, large-scale systems.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and ethical AI considerations in banking, such as GDPR, data privacy, and model explainability, is preferred.
  • Experience with banking or financial services use cases such as conversational AI, intelligent document processing, fraud detection, or risk analysis is preferred.
