Description

  • Validate payroll tax calculations, filings, and payments for compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Research and interpret payroll tax laws and updates, advising stakeholders on policy and program changes.
  • Prepare reports on tax liabilities, labor costs, and tax-related trends for Finance and leadership.
  • Support and lead payroll tax audits, including documentation and issue remediation.
  • Develop and maintain payroll tax controls, documentation, and training materials to support audits and SOX compliance.
  • Oversee US bi-weekly payroll processing as a backup to the Payroll Specialist when needed.
  • Resolve complex employee payroll inquiries by interpreting policy and regulation.
  • Lead special projects such as system implementations and new jurisdiction expansion.
  • Collaborate with Tax, Accounting, and HR to reconcile payroll tax accounts and ensure general ledger alignment.
  • Manage year-end tax processing, including W-2/W-2C generation, balancing, and filing.
  • Serve as the point of contact for third-party payroll tax providers and monitor service levels.
  • Execute and document complex tax adjustments, including gross-ups, fringe benefit taxation, and relocation-related treatments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in a multi-state payroll function.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll laws, regulations, and tax administration requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting and payroll tax accounting requirements.
  • Advanced data analytics experience, preferably with Excel or Alteryx.
  • Experience using a ticketing system such as ServiceNow or Jira.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to resolve employee inquiries.
  • Strong personal integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with strong communication, organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
