Description

  • Lead and participate in qualitative and quantitative user research, including interviews and surveys.
  • Synthesize research findings into actionable design requirements and user experience recommendations.
  • Collaborate in discovery sessions with product owners, project managers, business leads, and customer success teams to evaluate user requirements.
  • Guide UX work through all phases of product development, from discovery through ship and iteration.
  • Create sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, storyboards, and prototypes.
  • Build complex workflows and navigation for Smile Digital Health solutions, including Clinical Reasoning products and next-generation designs.
  • Work closely with front-end development teams to support the handoff from design to code and ensure implementation accuracy.
  • Contribute to and maintain Smile’s in-house UX Style Framework and ensure consistent application across projects.
  • Use analytical and strategic thinking to identify trends and recommend solutions that improve the user experience.
  • Advocate for design thinking, user-centered design principles, and accessible, inclusive experiences across the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience as a UX/UI Designer or in a similar role.
  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Experience working within an Agile SCRUM team.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to create valuable and meaningful user experiences.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn ideas into clear design solutions and flows.
  • Excellent communication skills and familiarity with standard design methodologies.
  • Proven visual design skills with the ability to create clear visual hierarchies in user interfaces.
  • Knowledge of qualitative UX methods and tools, including usability testing and remote testing, and when to apply them.
  • Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture.
  • Highly proficient in Figma, including components/design systems, variables, and interactive prototyping.
  • Significant experience building and maintaining design systems.
  • Experience in user research and research methodologies.
  • Experience designing for common front-end frameworks such as Bootstrap, Angular, and React.
  • Experience working with front-end developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
  • Healthcare design experience is considered an asset.
  • Existing knowledge of FHIR and clinical data workflows between payers and providers is a plus.
  • Existing knowledge of clinical measures in the US is a plus.
  • Existing knowledge of analytics and non-relational data is a plus.
  • Experience with custom designs extending frameworks such as GoJS, JointJS, or React Diagrams is a plus.
