Description

  • Own US customer trust operations by managing intake, triage, prioritization, and completion of customer security questionnaires, vendor risk assessments, and RFIs.
  • Respond to customer security inquiries with technical depth and accurate answers grounded in Smartsheet’s architecture and security controls.
  • Manage the questionnaire queue, track completion timelines, escalate delays, and keep customers informed of progress.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer security teams by understanding their compliance requirements and providing clear security assurance.
  • Partner with sales and customer success teams to remove security-related deal blockers and support customer buying cycles.
  • Escalate and collaborate on complex assessments involving specialized topics such as AI security, FedRAMP, HIPAA, and specific control implementations.
  • Work cross-functionally with EMEA colleagues, security specialists, product security, and engineering to gather evidence and complete responses.
  • Address industry-specific compliance questions related to HIPAA, NIST, CCPA, PCI DSS, and other sector requirements.
  • Drive process improvements by updating response templates and improving questionnaire completion efficiency and customer experience.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in customer trust, vendor risk, security assessment, or customer-facing security engineering roles at SaaS or cloud platform companies.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience completing customer security questionnaires, vendor assessments, and security RFI responses.
  • Working knowledge of GRC frameworks and standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST frameworks, and HIPAA.
  • Strong technical security foundation with understanding of cloud architecture (AWS, GCP, Azure), application security, access controls, encryption, logging, incident response, and data protection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort with ticketing systems, queue management, tracking dependencies, and prioritizing multiple concurrent requests.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across sales, customer success, product security, and engineering teams.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CCSK, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are preferred.
  • Experience with questionnaire and vendor risk management platforms such as Targhee, OneTrust, or SAFE is preferred.
  • Background in SaaS security operations or security operations center environments is preferred.
  • Understanding of AI governance and emerging AI security risks is preferred.
