Description

  • Lead the design, development, validation, and deployment of interfaces between SmarterDx and customer EHRs, including Epic, Cerner, and Meditech.
  • Guide architecture discussions with health system CIOs, IT, interface, network, CDI, coding, and implementation teams.
  • Own integrations from specifications and data mapping through configuration, testing, go-live, and production stabilization.
  • Lead data validation and reconciliation to ensure data integrity, completeness, and interoperability compliance.
  • Design monitoring, alerting, traceability, replay strategies, and operational runbooks for reliable integrations.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation for complex production issues, including an after-hours Tier 3 support rotation.
  • Automate implementation and operational tasks such as test harnesses, validation checks, and deployment workflows.
  • Monitor interoperability standards and advise SmarterDx and clients on architectural implications.
  • Influence product and platform strategy through guidance on schemas, data contracts, mappings, and integration tooling.

Requirements

  • 7+ years building, deploying, and supporting hospital-based HL7v2 interfaces at scale.
  • Advanced experience architecting and operating interface engines with focus on maintainability, performance, and supportability.
  • Experience with scalable EHR database extraction, performance tuning, indexing, and downstream validation.
  • Significant experience with FHIR R4 APIs/resources and SMART on FHIR workflows.
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder leadership skills.
  • Ability to define implementation plans, timelines, critical paths, risks, mitigations, and success criteria.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript or Python for message transformation or workflow automation.
  • Fluency in SQL for validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting complex datasets.
  • Knowledge of TLS, HTTPS, VPN configuration, and secure data transfer practices.
  • Preferred: Epic integration technologies, Rhapsody, SFTP-based flat file or X12 transfers, clinical informatics, health IT certifications, or HL7/FHIR working group experience.
