Description

  • Lead machine learning research and development efforts for clinical AI products.
  • Establish a research agenda informed by emerging trends in AI.
  • Design, develop, and rigorously evaluate new algorithms and models.
  • Deploy models into production and monitor their performance over time.
  • Collaborate with engineers and clinicians to turn research into enterprise-grade products.
  • Work cross-functionally on MLOps and machine learning engineering initiatives.
  • Handle data engineering, dataset curation, experimental design, and model updates.
  • Contribute to scientific reading, writing, publishing, presenting, and recruiting efforts.
  • Become a domain expert in clinical data and the healthcare ecosystem.
  • Develop advanced modeling approaches including self-supervised pre-training, retrieval, attribution, hallucination detection, multimodal fusion, graph-based methods, and long-sequence language modeling.

Requirements

  • Experience translating research into production engineering systems, including MLOps.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and proactively about scientific concepts, technical debugging, or domain knowledge.
  • Deep understanding of modern neural network architectures and distributed training.
  • Extensive experience developing, implementing, and training state-of-the-art deep learning models across multiple GPUs and nodes when needed.
  • Experience working with large language models using frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
  • Proven ability to assess, understand, and create high-quality machine learning research.
  • Publications at top-tier conferences or journals such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, SIGIR, AAAI, NEJM AI, JAMIA, npj Digital Medicine, or arXiv.
  • Nice to have: MLSys knowledge such as tensor, pipeline, and data parallelism; gloo, MPI, and NCCL; CUDA and ROCm; Triton and ThunderKittens.
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with inference optimizations such as vLLM, SGLang, continuous batching, KV caching, and speculative decoding.
  • Experience with the listed tech stack, including PyTorch, Python, GitHub, Snowflake, Hugging Face Transformers, AWS SageMaker, Microsoft DeepSpeed, TorchTune, Apache Airflow, SLURM, and Kubernetes.

  • Base salary of $200K–$220K+.
