Description

  • Develop full-stack features on a Ruby on Rails application.
  • Use AI tools such as Claude and Codex across planning, prototyping, code generation, and code review.
  • Participate in AI-assisted and human code review workflows before deployment.
  • Speak with customers to understand requirements and product needs.
  • Review product usage data and metrics to guide development decisions.
  • Prioritize features and decide what should be built in the absence of dedicated product managers.
  • Prototype new features with strong product and UX judgment.
  • Build front-end and back-end components in a Rails monolith using HTML, CSS, Hotwire, and light JavaScript.
  • Implement user interfaces to a near pixel-perfect standard from design systems and components.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and designers while working independently and across changing priorities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing full-stack applications with Ruby on Rails.
  • 3+ years of experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the Hotwire stack.
  • 3+ years of solid working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude or Codex.
  • Experience with other coding-agent tools such as Cursor or Copilot Workspace is acceptable if you can rapidly adopt the required tooling.
  • 2+ years of experience with strong product sense and UX judgment.
  • Ability to implement near pixel-perfect user interfaces without full designer handoff.
  • 2+ years of working knowledge of AWS S3 and CloudFront, or equivalent object storage/CDN experience on another cloud provider.
  • 3+ years of working knowledge of CI/CD using GitHub Actions, or experience with GitLab CI or CircleCI.
  • Exposure to AWS EC2 and Elastic Beanstalk is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in the education or EdTech domain is preferred.
  • Strong product instincts gained in any industry or vertical are preferred.
