Description

  • Prepare and lodge accurate BAS and IAS returns, reconciling GST and payroll liabilities in line with ATO requirements.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client accounts using cloud platforms such as Xero and Dext, including journals, fixed assets, and reporting.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, collections, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with bookkeeping and tax teams to maintain ledger integrity and efficient financial operations.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reports, providing actionable client insights.
  • Support payroll processes and ensure compliance with Australian regulatory standards.
  • Manage client relationships end to end and act as the primary accounting contact for Australian SME owners.
  • Identify and resolve accounting issues while maintaining accurate, consistent records across multiple client workstreams.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as an Accountant in Australian accounting.
  • Experience managing client relationships and communicating directly with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with BAS, IAS, GST, payroll liabilities, and ATO compliance.
  • Proficiency with cloud accounting systems such as Xero and Dext.
  • Experience maintaining full sets of accounts, including journals, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
  • Corporate tax return preparation experience is preferred.
  • Strong ownership, attention to detail, structured thinking, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, handle difficult conversations constructively, and work with technology-enabled services.
  • Curiosity about practical AI applications in accounting and business operations; background screening and reference checks are required.
