Description

  • Prepare, record, and review global payroll journal entries and own payroll accruals in compliance with GAAP.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for payroll, benefits, taxes, and bonus liabilities and resolve GL variances.
  • Prepare monthly flux analysis and variance commentary for payroll-related accounts for Finance and senior leadership.
  • Maintain the global payroll close checklist and coordinate timely, accurate booking of entries across Payroll Operations, Finance, HR, and regional partners.
  • Serve as a key resource for internal, external, and statutory audits by owning payroll accounting schedules, documentation, and walkthrough narratives.
  • Support SOX readiness and pre-IPO compliance efforts.
  • Assist with payroll tax reconciliations, quarterly and annual filings, and W-2 and global statutory year-end reporting.
  • Validate tax setups, withholding rules, and GL account mappings.
  • Work with international payroll providers to ensure complete and timely reporting feeds and standardize accounting processes across multiple countries.
  • Partner with HR, FP&A, Total Rewards, AP, and Legal on compensation changes, benefits updates, and regulatory impacts.
  • Build and maintain process documentation, reconciliation schedules, and controls, and identify opportunities to streamline and automate payroll-to-GL workflows.
  • Support special projects including system implementations, integrations, acquisitions, and country expansions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA or active CPA candidacy is highly preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on payroll accounting or compensation accounting in a multi-entity or global organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, including accruals, compensation expense recognition, and payroll-related liabilities.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll platforms and third-party providers such as ADP, Deel, or equivalent.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and reconciliation modeling.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting financial audits and SOX compliance, including controls documentation, testing, and audit deliverable preparation.
  • Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction payroll tax compliance, including federal, state, and international requirements.
  • Exposure to international statutory reporting in the UK, Australia, India, and Spain is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities during high-volume close periods in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
