Description

  • Administer and harden Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Rocky Linux systems across production, staging, and internal networks.
  • Operate and maintain infrastructure spanning multiple data centers, segmented networks, DMZs, and private backend tiers.
  • Manage and secure platform services including Apache/PHP-FPM, SFTP/FTPS, MySQL/Percona (Galera clusters and proxies), HAProxy, reverse proxies, and WAF-style architectures.
  • Design, implement, and maintain high-availability and fault-tolerant systems (clusters, failover, redundancy).
  • Implement and maintain security controls including SELinux (enforcing, custom policies), iptables/nftables/ipset, TLS hardening (FIPS-aware where applicable), MFA, and least-privilege access controls.
  • Support and contribute to compliance efforts (SOC 2, HIPAA, FedRAMP-aligned controls), including evidence collection and control validation.
  • Automate system configuration and maintenance using Ansible, shell scripting, and/or Python.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across OS, network, and application layers; participate in incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in change management, collaborate with engineering, support, and compliance teams, and produce documentation and audit evidence as needed.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional Linux systems administration experience.
  • Strong experience with RHEL-based distributions (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS) and SELinux beyond permissive mode.
  • Deep understanding of Linux networking (routing, firewalls, NAT, VPN), system performance and troubleshooting, filesystems, storage, and backups.
  • Proven experience securing Linux systems in regulated environments and supporting SOC 2, HIPAA, or PCI requirements.
  • Experience with iptables/nftables/ipset in production and strong knowledge of TLS, certificates, and basic cryptography.
  • Experience operating high-availability systems (clusters, Galera/Percona, failover, redundancy) and familiarity with HAProxy/ProxySQL.
  • Solid scripting skills (Bash required; Python strongly preferred) and familiarity with configuration management (Ansible preferred).
  • Ability to troubleshoot end-to-end (logs, packet flow, OS/network/application) and to perform careful changes in shared, customer-impacting systems.
  • Comfortable producing documentation and evidence for auditors and working with change management and access controls.
  • Nice to have: experience with FedRAMP or NIST 800-53–aligned environments, Percona XtraDB Cluster/Galera/ProxySQL, multi-datacenter or SaaS operations, Proxmox/VMware, or building internal admin tooling.
