Description

  • Own the end-to-end monthly Colombian payroll cycle with the BPO provider, including data submission, validation, reconciliation, approval, payment release, post-cycle review, SLA management, and escalation handling.
  • Serve as the Sezzle-side single point of accountability for payroll accuracy and catch BPO errors before payments are released.
  • Manage payroll data flows between UKG, the BPO provider, and Finance for hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, leaves, vacation accruals, and deductions.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Colombian statutory payroll obligations, including social security, parafiscales, cesantías, prima, vacation, and withholding requirements.
  • Own year-end and mid-year statutory processes, including income and withholding certificates, holiday bonus cycles, vacation true-ups, and annual reconciliation.
  • Coordinate treasury funding with Finance, prepare journal entries and accruals, and support monthly close activities.
  • Act as the first escalation point for Colombian team members’ payroll questions and use issues to drive process improvements.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance on Colombian labor law changes and translate them into operational payroll updates.
  • Build audit-ready payroll SOPs, calendars, control matrices, and exception logs from the ground up.
  • Support the transition to Sezzle Colombia SAS, including UKG roster setup, BPO onboarding, parallel-run validation, and first-cycle rehearsal.
  • Manage cross-border payment mechanics for USD-denominated contractor payments outside the Colombia SAS payroll perimeter.
  • Oversee UGPP audits.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on Colombian payroll experience, with most of it in technology, fintech, marketplace, or SaaS environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Deep, current knowledge of Colombian labor law, payroll statutory requirements, PILA submission, DIAN reporting, cesantías, prima, parafiscales, and the social security system.
  • Experience as the client-side coordinator for an outsourced or BPO payroll provider.
  • Experience running payroll for small-to-mid-sized Colombian teams of 50–250 people for a global parent company.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for reconciliation, variance analysis, and error detection.
  • Strong working English for daily communication with US-based People Ops, Finance, and Legal stakeholders.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms such as UKG, Workday, ADP, or similar, including HRIS-to-payroll data flows.
  • A track record of catching payroll errors before they are released and being willing to hold payment when needed.
  • Discretion when handling sensitive compensation, termination, and personal data.
  • Experience using Claude or comparable large language model tools to improve productivity, research, and communication.
  • Preferred: Experience leading a payroll transition, BPO implementation, entity stand-up, EOR exit, or HRIS migration.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Payoneer or other USD-denominated contractor payment rails.
  • Preferred: Experience managing both empleado dependiente and contratista independiente populations.
  • Preferred: Background in a publicly listed or pre-IPO fintech with SOX-adjacent controls and external audit readiness.
  • Preferred: Native Spanish and fluent business English.
