Description

  • Own and implement the commissioning strategy for L4-L5 commissioning activities.
  • Lead commissioning projects to ensure performance evidence and compliance with internal processes and customer requirements.
  • Enforce testing standards for critical infrastructure systems and vendor workmanship.
  • Validate new equipment and suppliers with development teams.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control of commissioning documentation and tool entries.
  • Translate customer and operational requirements into technical plans that balance cost, quality, timing, scalability, and sustainability.
  • Identify training needs for new equipment and updated sequence of operations for operations teams.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and customers on commissioning execution.
  • Support data center locations through regular travel for commissioning activities, vendor factory visits, and occasional conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or a closely aligned engineering discipline, or equivalent industry or military experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time, including domestic and occasional international travel.
  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
  • Experience working with large global data center providers in multiple regions preferred.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations across multiple jurisdictions preferred.
  • Knowledge of critical data center equipment, including generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, feeders, chillers, plumbing, fire detection/suppression, AHUs, CRAH, and CRAC systems preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong record of mentoring and growing teams preferred.
