Description

  • Own the end-to-end UX for Sangoma’s desk phone and device experiences, from interaction models through implementation.
  • Design for embedded, hardware-constrained environments with physical inputs, limited screens, and real-time expectations.
  • Define task-driven workflows for core telephony functions including calling, transfers, conferencing, voicemail, and call handling.
  • Develop and maintain UX deliverables such as flows, wireframes, interaction specifications, and system behaviors.
  • Prioritize speed, predictability, and low cognitive load in interface and workflow design.
  • Integrate AI tools across the design, implementation, and maintenance phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Partner closely with firmware engineers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and perform reliably in production.
  • Work with Product Management to align UX decisions with customer needs, real-world usage, and business outcomes.
  • Anticipate edge cases, failure states, and recovery paths in real-time communication scenarios.
  • Support usability testing and iterate based on real user behavior while helping maintain consistency across the device ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in UX and user interface design, product design, or interaction design; 3 years preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing task-focused, workflow-driven interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of human-computer interaction principles, including cognitive load, affordances, and error prevention.
  • Ability to communicate UX rationale clearly to engineers and non-design stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn a niche domain quickly.
  • Experience with telephony, VoIP, or enterprise communications products is preferred.
  • Experience designing for constrained or non-traditional platforms such as embedded devices, hardware products, enterprise tools, or operational systems is preferred.
  • Understanding of localization and internationalization considerations is preferred.
  • Prior exposure to usability testing or field studies in enterprise or operational environments is preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
  • Must be located in the Eastern or Central time zone, as the role collaborates directly with US Eastern time zone leadership.

  • Salary range of $85,000 to $95,000 per year, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and location.
