Description

  • Design, deploy, and operate production Kubernetes clusters across AWS EKS and on-premises or bare-metal environments.
  • Own cluster lifecycle management, including upgrades, multi-cluster topology, RBAC, networking, ingress, storage, and workload security.
  • Build golden paths and self-service tooling such as Helm charts, operators/CRDs, reusable manifests, and internal platform utilities.
  • Implement GitOps-based delivery and manage infrastructure as code to keep environments reproducible, auditable, and recoverable.
  • Define SLOs and error budgets, and lead incident response and blameless post-mortems.
  • Drive capacity planning, autoscaling strategy, and ongoing reliability and security improvements for critical workloads.
  • Build and maintain observability across monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying services across environments.
  • Investigate infrastructure-level problems, prototype solutions, and productionize improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, networking, and cluster issues to protect system integrity and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud/platform engineering.
  • Significant hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production.
  • Experience designing and running scalable, secure, and reliable cloud- and container-based platforms.
  • Experience managing Kubernetes deployments on on-premises and bare-metal environments.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and experience researching complex infrastructure challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional, distributed teams.
  • Willingness to travel across the African continent when needed to support in-country teams.
  • Comfort working in small teams while contributing to larger globally coordinated efforts.
  • Self-motivation, discipline, and strong communication habits when working through virtual collaboration tools and video conferencing.
