Description

  • Help define the technical direction for the developer platform, including CI/CD, build systems, and AI agents used by engineers.
  • Design and build AI agents that support coding, code review, test generation, release automation, and incident response.
  • Scale internal tooling to support a growing engineering organization while maintaining reliability and developer experience.
  • Standardize tools and engineering practices so effective solutions can be shared across teams.
  • Raise the technical bar through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to evaluate and prioritize technical investments and tradeoffs.
  • Represent Samsara externally through talks, open source, and other community-facing work when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in an architect or technical leadership role.
  • Strong programming and system design fundamentals.
  • 4+ years of experience working on large-scale distributed systems.
  • 4+ years leading technical projects across multiple teams.
  • Experience building developer platforms, internal tooling, or CI/CD for a large engineering organization is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience shipping work with AI coding tools or custom agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot is preferred.
  • Strong skills in Go, Python, TypeScript, or a similar language are preferred.
  • Track record of improving engineering productivity, such as faster builds, easier deployments, reduced toil, or happier developers, is preferred.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and aligning teams without formal authority is preferred.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary of $162,400 to $290,000 USD.
