Description

  • Lead major cross-team projects based on the most urgent business needs across Smart Trailers and Connected Equipment.
  • Drive architectural and product capability improvements that raise the technical bar for the broader engineering organization.
  • Work closely with customers in the field to understand pain points and shape product solutions.
  • Use AI tools, LLMs, and AI agents to automate routine engineering work and accelerate delivery.
  • Collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to solve cross-cutting system and performance trade-offs.
  • Mentor engineers in a high-ownership environment and help strong ideas win regardless of title.
  • Partner with engineering management to balance technical health with iterative customer outcomes.
  • Champion Samsara’s company principles and contribute as a cultural force multiplier as the organization scales globally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12+ years of software design and development experience, including at least 4 years in an architect or leadership role.
  • Expertise writing high-quality, maintainable code in a modern language.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools such as Cursor and LLMs to increase productivity.
  • Proven experience with web services at massive scale on cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills, including managing complex technical discussions with Legal, Hardware, and Product stakeholders.
  • Experience building and shipping a 0-to-1 product from scratch and scaling it into a mature business driver.
  • Fully transitioned to an AI-native workflow.
  • 15+ years of relevant software development experience preferred.
  • Experience influencing product and infrastructure strategy at the corporate level preferred.
  • Experience mentoring engineers on system life cycles, edge cases, and failure modes from edge to cloud preferred.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $162,400 to $390,000 USD.
