Description

  • Design and deliver end-to-end solutions for trailer and unpowered equipment tracking, utilization, and sensor-based monitoring (e.g., load, temperature).
  • Build scalable services and features that operate across a large IoT device fleet to support customer needs and product growth.
  • Bring a customer-focused mindset to development, iterating quickly to deliver measurable customer wins and incorporating customer feedback.
  • Partner with the Engineering Manager to advocate for long-term technical health and balance technical debt with product priorities.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers through design and implementation conversations and act as a force multiplier on the team.
  • Collaborate with product managers, customer success, and cross-functional teams (including firmware and infra) and participate in customer interviews to ensure solutions drive customer outcomes.
  • Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (focus on customer success, build for the long term, growth mindset, inclusivity, and team collaboration).
  • Design for stability and growth while remaining responsive to operational and customer-driven feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in at least one of: Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, or React.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage technical discussions.
  • Team-player mentality with experience collaborating across engineers with different focuses (e.g., infra, firmware).
  • Experience building and shipping a 0→1 product and understanding how to scale post-launch (preferred).
  • Experience with geolocation data (preferred).
  • Understanding of how to design for stability and growth while responding to customer feedback.
  • This role is remote and open to candidates residing in the US and Canada; ability to secure and maintain legal work authorization in the specified location is required.
