Description

  • Administer and monitor Databricks workspaces and underlying AWS infrastructure, including clusters, catalogs, users, groups, databases, storage, and security.
  • Develop platform administration tools and capabilities to track, troubleshoot, and manage Databricks resources and usage.
  • Act as the primary Databricks subject matter expert, advising teams on platform features and best practices.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and data scientists to operationalize, optimize, and productionize workflows and data pipelines.
  • Oversee the data-engineering developer ecosystem, including dev-tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD automation for Databricks and AWS resources.
  • Ensure security, high availability, disaster recovery, and compliance for data services.
  • Incorporate DevOps best practices such as automated testing, deployment, observability, and monitoring.
  • Engage cross-functional stakeholders to understand data needs, design scalable solutions, and lead rapid prototyping/proof-of-concepts to evaluate performance, cost, security, and scalability.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, training, and knowledge sharing for junior team members and partner teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, DevOps/DataOps, or similar roles, including at least 2+ years in a data infrastructure or platform-focused role.
  • Experience building, delivering, and administering large-scale production-grade data platforms and services for data engineering, analytics, and data-science teams.
  • Solid knowledge of Databricks administration and features, including Unity Catalog, cluster management, security, troubleshooting/root-cause analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure provisioning, management, monitoring, and security (examples: S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, EC2, ECS/EKS).
  • Strong SQL and Python skills with hands-on data-engineering experience designing and developing data pipelines and ETL from sources such as SaaS systems, APIs, and RDBMS.
  • Skilled with change-data capture, incremental and batch loading techniques, and troubleshooting underlying pipeline issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred: experience delivering and managing Databricks and AWS infrastructure for hundreds of users.
  • Preferred: experience as a technical lead and familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD systems, Terraform, monitoring/logging tools like Datadog or CloudWatch) and implementing data governance and security measures.
  • This role is open to candidates residing in the U.S. except San Francisco Bay Area and New York Metro City.

Benefits

  • Base salary range: $134,470—$180,800 USD for this position.
  • Total compensation package includes base salary plus bonus/variable pay and restricted stock unit (RSU) awards, with potential for RSU refresh grants.
