Description

  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend systems for a high-traffic video platform.
  • Own backend systems end to end and improve them in production.
  • Build APIs and support data-processing or background job workloads at scale.
  • Optimize MySQL schemas, indexing, and queries for performance and reliability.
  • Implement caching strategies using Memcached and Redis.
  • Maintain and modernize legacy code and legacy PHP applications.
  • Integrate front-end components with backend logic and support server-side rendering work.
  • Turn requirements into clear technical plans and make sound implementation decisions across application, data, and infrastructure layers.
  • Contribute to technical direction through code reviews, reusable patterns, and architectural judgment.
  • Troubleshoot production issues by reading logs and working in Linux environments.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in back-end development building production systems at scale.
  • 10+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languages.
  • 5+ years of experience with PHP, including modern PHP practices such as PHP 8+.
  • Strong experience with MySQL, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with caching systems such as Memcached and Redis.
  • Strong understanding of web development fundamentals and HTTP protocols.
  • Experience working in Linux server environments, including reading logs and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with video technologies, containers, codecs, or live streaming environments (preferred).
  • Experience with NGINX, WebSocket communication, BASH scripting, networking fundamentals, PHPStan, CI/CD, PHPUnit, or automated testing (preferred).
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
