Description

  • Implement Rocketship’s vision and instructional model for Integrated Special Education across the network.
  • Develop curriculum, instruction, and assessment approaches that support strong outcomes for students with disabilities.
  • Partner with organizational leaders, school directors, and school staff to coordinate efforts and share best practices.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Senior Director of Integrated Special Education and support network-wide vision implementation.
  • Coach and support regional special education leaders to strengthen execution and team performance.
  • Design and deliver professional development for school leaders, special education teachers, general education teachers, and paraprofessionals.
  • Lead regular team meetings and routines that reinforce the special education vision and priorities.
  • Create, enforce, and maintain policies, systems, and procedures that meet compliance requirements.
  • Stay current on special education policies and best practices across regions and demographics.
  • Provide on-site support to schools for compliance matters related to students, authorizers, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A deep commitment to Rocketship Public Schools’ mission and inclusive model for serving students with disabilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of successful experience managing special education and compliance initiatives in a complex, multi-site environment.
  • 4 additional years of successful teaching or instructional experience with strong student achievement results.
  • Experience navigating cross-functional relationships and achieving results through influence and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations and their application across multiple cases.
  • Experience working with students across a full range of disabilities, including learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and autism, strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with elementary-age students, strongly preferred.
  • Strong pedagogical, culturally responsive, and personalized learning skills.
  • Valid Special Education teaching credential or administrative license.
  • Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field, strongly preferred.
  • Moderate-severe special education background with a track record of increasing inclusion and decreasing behavior, preferred.
  • D.C., TN, or MKE/Chicago-based location required.
