Description

  • Review medical billing records, coding data, and supporting clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Apply CPT®, ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, and other coding systems to evaluate code selection and billing methodology.
  • Assess medical charges against usual, customary, and reasonable (UCR) standards and payer guidance.
  • Support senior experts in litigation, arbitration, claims, and other dispute-related matters.
  • Assist with data organization, comparative analyses, and preparation of materials for expert reporting.
  • Contribute to internal and external audits involving billing, documentation, and reimbursement practices.
  • Prepare clear written summaries that document findings, observations, and supporting data.
  • Maintain organized workpapers, sources, methodologies, and assumptions to meet quality and legal scrutiny standards.
  • Monitor changes in healthcare billing, coding, and reimbursement regulations and apply current industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, engineers, scientists, and legal professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
  • Experience with end-to-end revenue cycle processes and medical record documentation review.
  • Exposure to claims analysis, audits, or healthcare compliance activities.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare billing practices, payer rules, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Active certification such as CPC, CCS, CMRS, or BCSC.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Familiarity with litigation support, expert consulting, or forensic review environments.
  • Experience supporting audits, appeals, or dispute-related billing analyses.
  • Additional credentials such as CPMA, RHIA, CHDA, CPCO, CDIP, CDEI, or FMC are preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills appropriate for professional and legal audiences.
