Description

Investigate residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters.
Determine the cause, origin, extent, and repairability of structural failures, building envelope damage, and construction defects.
Collect photographic evidence and document on-site conditions during field investigations.
Conduct in-person or telephone interviews, oversee field testing, and review drawings, contracts, specifications, and historical records.
Prepare oral and written reports detailing causes of loss, repair scope, and recommended remediation.
Provide expert opinions and testimony in litigation, deposition, and trial settings.
Manage multiple projects and coordinate with other experts to deliver client reports on time.
Follow safety and due diligence procedures during project completion.
Build and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
Communicate findings and technical information to clients, management, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

Civil or structural engineering degree or higher.
P.E. license required, or fourth-year EIT with the ability to obtain the P.E. license quickly.
NCEE record preferred.
5+ years of experience.
Project management and/or field investigation experience preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
High level of analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computer-assisted engineering/design software.
Ability to write scopes of work, budget estimates, schedules, reports, proposals, and technical correspondence.
Ability to interact with clients at all levels and present information to management, public groups, and boards of directors.
Willingness to work in office and field settings, including roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other challenging environments.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to travel up to 50% locally/regionally, with less than 5% out-of-area and overnight travel.
