Description

  • Install, configure, manage, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Provide end-to-end administration support for SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other database platforms.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning for queries, indexes, and database configurations.
  • Implement and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including backups, recovery models, clustering, replication, and Always On.
  • Manage database security, including user access, roles, authentication, encryption, and audit policies.
  • Support production, development, QA, and staging database environments.
  • Perform regular health checks, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring of database instances.
  • Schedule and manage routine maintenance tasks and automate administrative and monitoring processes using scripts.
  • Rapidly diagnose and resolve database incidents, connectivity issues, performance degradation, and corruption.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
  • Strong practical experience with backup/restore, recovery models, and HADR technologies.
  • Proven expertise in database performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Experience administering MySQL and/or PostgreSQL databases.
  • Experience supporting databases on cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS RDS, or Azure SQL Database.
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server and/or Linux/Unix in database environments.
  • Strong experience with incident, request, change, and problem management.
  • Strong understanding of RDBMS concepts, ACID properties, transactions, and isolation levels.
  • Degree or Master’s in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Deep proficiency with SQL Server administration, configuration, and maintenance across versions.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and server-level performance tuning.
  • Proven experience with SQL Server HA/DR technologies such as Always On Availability Groups, clustering, mirroring, and replication.
  • Strong skills in security administration, including authentication, permissions, encryption, and audit policies.
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and troubleshooting complex code.
  • Experience supporting SQL Server BI tools such as SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
  • Experience developing automation scripts with PowerShell or Python.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL principles and IT service management tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced global environment, manage multiple priorities, and participate in a 24x5 shift rotation.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is desirable.
  • Microsoft SQL Server certification is a plus.
  • GCP cloud certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Progress database administration is a plus.
