Description

  • Lead the development of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
  • Build and maintain tools, APIs, and integrations for product features and platform needs.
  • Participate in product work by providing feedback, suggesting technical solutions, and using technical insight to influence product improvements.
  • Contribute to and maintain the shared codebase, including providing feedback on code reviews.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues across the stack to maintain reliability and performance.
  • Investigate, propose, and implement improvements to the platform and engineering workflows.
  • Design, propose, and operationalize agentic/automation workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify).
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives that teams can apply across domains.
  • Implement verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure results are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers and participate in non-team activities such as support rotations, hiring, and RFC discussions.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and iterating on them.
  • Ability to think in systems: define clear specs, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres or similar relational databases.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or similar).
  • Experience building APIs and integrations and working in cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Comfort working asynchronously and owning work with minimal recurring ceremonies.
  • Nice to have: experience with functional programming languages (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell).
  • Nice to have: Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS experience.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with Frontend frameworks and tooling such as Next.js, React, Vue, or Angular.
