Description

  • Lead development of major team-scoped projects and contribute to cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
  • Participate in product work: provide feedback, suggest solutions, and influence product improvements using technical expertise.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
  • Design, propose, and operationalize agentic/automation workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) to deliver outcomes faster.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives for repeated use across domains.
  • Implement and contribute to the shared codebase; provide and act on feedback in code reviews.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues; participate in support rotations and non-team activities (hiring, RFCs, etc.).
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers to raise team capability.
  • Investigate, propose, and implement platform improvements related to performance, accessibility, and API design.
  • Use verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure correctness, security, reliability, and scalability of delivered work.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping production systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and iterating on them.
  • Ability to think in systems: define specs clearly, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres (or a similar relational database).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or similar).
  • Familiarity with verification practices (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to validate automation outcomes.
  • Experience with functional programming languages (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell) is a plus.
  • Experience or familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS and frontend frameworks like Next.js or React/Vue/Angular is desirable.
