Description

  • Lead the development and delivery of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
  • Design, propose and operationalize agentic/automation workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) to deliver outcomes faster.
  • Build reusable agentic workflow primitives and integrate them into the shared codebase for repeated use across domains.
  • Use verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure results are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Implement and maintain interfaces with attention to performance, accessibility, and API design.
  • Provide technical product feedback, suggest solutions, and use engineering insights to influence product improvements.
  • Review code, contribute to the shared codebase, and mentor other engineers to raise team quality.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues in production systems.
  • Participate in non-team activities such as support rotations, hiring, RFC discussions, and other operational duties.
  • Investigate, propose and implement improvements to the platform and how engineering work ships (including redesign toward autonomous agents).

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows (or comparable systems) and improving them through iteration.
  • Ability to think in systems: define clear specs, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres (or a similar relational database).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or similar).
  • Familiarity with functional programming languages and ecosystems (Elixir, Erlang, Scala, Clojure, Haskell, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS) is desirable.
  • Experience or familiarity with frontend frameworks and tooling (Next.js, React, Vue, Angular) is a plus.
  • Willingness to work asynchronously, take ownership, participate in support rotations, and contribute to hiring and RFC processes.
