Description

  • Lead the development and delivery of major team-scoped projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for Remote’s HR and Payroll products.
  • Participate in product work by providing technical feedback, suggesting solutions, and proposing product improvements based on engineering insights.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives and drive technical direction.
  • Contribute to and review the shared codebase by providing feedback on code reviews and implementing changes.
  • Debug and resolve technical and business issues, including participating in support rotations when needed.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers, including participating in the hiring process and RFC discussions.
  • Investigate, propose, and implement platform and engineering improvements to increase reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Design and implement interfaces and APIs with attention to performance, accessibility, and API design.
  • Redesign how engineering work ships by proposing and operationalizing agentic workflows end-to-end (spec → plan → execute → verify) and building reusable agentic workflow primitives.
  • Use verification loops (tests, checks, evaluations, guardrails) to ensure results are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing, adopting, or improving agentic/automation workflows or comparable systems.
  • Ability to think in systems: define specs clearly, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
  • Experience with Postgres or a similar relational database.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or similar) and frequent deployment workflows.
  • Comfort working in a fully remote, asynchronous environment and owning end-to-end delivery.
  • Familiarity with backend stack (Elixir and Phoenix) and frontend frameworks (React/Next.js) is a plus.
  • Nice-to-have: Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS experience.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular.
